Legal Counsel for leading global banking and finance group

Do you want to work closely with the business in providing banking and finance services in an international setting to some of the largest companies in Denmark? On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Danish law qualified associate to work within the group’s Danish branch office in Copenhagen. You will be part of a legal team advising on various legal matters arising in Denmark and have a key role in ensuring that the legal services provided in the region are qualitative, consistent and provided in a timely manner.

 

Role Overview & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Danish Head of Legal, you will be part of a legal team consisting of the Head of Legal Denmark and the Legal Counsel. You will sit with the Danish Corporate & Institutions Banking (CIB) business and service their day-to-day transactional and regulatory legal requirements and queries. You will also be required to be proactively engaged in legal and regulatory projects and issues that affect both Denmark and the Nordic Region as a whole.

You will be responsible for monitoring the Danish legal market and for maintaining awareness of Danish legal developments, policies and guidelines to help ensure that any legal services and advice provided remain within enforceable legal frameworks.

 

Specific Missions

  • Provide advice to the CIB business lines with regard to legal and regulatory matters in Denmark,
  • Provide legal support for relevant businesses, transaction management and documentation in Denmark,
  • Provide other Group legal staff with advice, assistance and support with regard to Danish law is-sues and cooperate with other Group legal staff on foreign legal issues for Danish clients,
  • Contribute to the development of standard agreements and templates together with legal guide-lines for products and documentation as appropriate and assist in keeping such documentation and guidelines updated,
  • Analyse legal and regulatory changes and developments potentially affecting our client's CIB busi-nesses and assist in mitigating any resulting legal risk, including ensuring necessary revisions to legal documentation, policies and procedures.

 

Your Profile
You hold a Danish Master of Laws (cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur.) combined with 2-3 years of relevant experience from either a law firm, a bank or a financial institution.

You demonstrate solid contract law experience with knowledge and experience in banking and financing law. Knowledge of global markets and MiFID regulations is an advantage. The ability to work independently as well as in a team with a strong sense of teamwork is essential for success. As a person you are ambitious, proactive and a doer. You are a self-starter, systematic and structured and you keep deadlines and deliver high-quality “products”.

You are robust yet approachable in nature, with the ability to act calmly and professionally in a demanding and fast-moving business environment. Independent, rigorous and commercially minded as well as comfortable and confident advising the business are other competencies that you possess.

As most work is conducted in English, an excellent command of written and spoken English, including excellent communication and negotiation skills is a prerequisite. You are good at explaining legal matters in an informal and commercial setting to your colleagues in the business operation and you thrive in an international working environment.
