Finance Director

On behalf of Arval A/S, we are searching for a business-oriented, proactive and hands-on Finance Director to lead and strengthen the accounting team.


The position

You will be part of a dynamic international company that has experienced rapid growth in recent years. You will report directly to the CEO in Denmark, with a dotted line to the regional CFO in the Netherlands.

As Finance Director you will be leading and motivating an accounting team consisting of four dedicated employees. You will be responsible for all financial, tax, cash management, treasury and funding aspects of Arval.

Your job is to develop, implement and maintain reliable financial controls, reports and processes to impact positively on business performance and support decision making within the Arval governance framework.

You and your team will fulfil financial controlling and provide reliable financial information and activity reporting to the top management, to Arval and to the Board, in line with BNP Paribas and Arval rules and within agreed timescales according to required internal standards and legal requirements.

You will be able to contribute with high impact by acting as a sparring partner and consultant to the CEO and all other Arval departments and functions locally and challenge existing practises to support decision-making, hereby playing an active role in defining Arval’s strategy going forward.

In your role, you will have regular contact and interaction with colleagues in other countries and you will be expected to share and exchange best practices.

Your primary tasks

Lead, motivate and maintain an efficient accounting and bookkeeping function

Monitor Arval’s financial management (local GAAP as well as IAS/IFRS) and tax issues

Follow up on funding and treasury management processes

Act as a sparring partner to the business, hereby supporting management decision-making

Implement and maintain reliable financial/accounting/credit management, controls and reports

Ensure the compliance of asset risk evaluations and their use in Finance, Risk and Pricing

Follow up on financial planning and budgeting processes

Improve and potentially reduce costs; maximize the value and cost effectiveness of Arval

Design and execute pricing management in compliance with Arval policies and procedures


Your profile

You hold a relevant master’s degree such as cand.merc.aud., cand.merc.fir., cand.oecon., or the like.

You have a number of years’ experience from a similar role as a Finance Director, Finance Manager, Finance Business Partner or similar, including direct management experience.

You have experience working in a compliance-focused company as well as experience working in a subsidiary reporting to Group. You have solid knowledge of VAT, local accounting principles and IFRS as well as international, intercompany accounting experience.

You have a strong strategic and business acumen, including a natural interest in market trends and an ability to acquire knowledge about a new industry. You are used to acting as a sparring partner to the business and to having a wide network.

As a person, you are structured, detail-oriented and you focus on keeping deadlines and delivering quality. You are a team player; as a manager you have a strong service attitude and lead by example.

You have strong analytical capabilities and you are capable of maintaining an overview in a complex environment. You have a commercial understanding of business, and you are driven by creating value, thereby making a difference. You have effective communication skills and you have strong organizational and information technology expertise.

You are fluent in Danish and English and have a professional level in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
