Business Controller

For Finance Transformation and Operational Excellence

On behalf of our client COWI A/S, we are searching for an analytical and proactive Business Controller to contribute to the ongoing development of financial management to COWI’s Regional Finance Bridge, Tunnel & Marine division.

The position
As part of Regional Finance, you will help empower stakeholders, enable decision making and create the agility that will strengthen COWI's competitive advantage. You will be part of a small and highly ambitious team that throughout the organization thinks and acts on being financially responsible for the business by providing transparency and business insights.

You will act as Finance Business Partner to the Senior Vice President of the Wind and Marine BU as well as the management team, which requires strong stakeholder management skills. You will be a part of an international BU with global stakeholders.

You will contribute with your business acumen by putting business partnering on the agenda and driving it. There will be good opportunities to influence you own role and help shape the role in the future – just as you will have an influence on the company’s results, both at the operational and strategic level.

A large part of the role is also to support the continuous journey to develop the best ways of working for all Regional Finance in terms of implementation of the Finance Operational Excellence project in COWI.

Your primary tasks
Your primary role will be to spar with the business and to support it with value-creating analyses and conclusions that will bring about more transparency and business insight. You are to contribute to giving the management the best conditions for taking business critical decisions.

Your primary tasks will include the following:

  • Active participation in the implementation of the Finance Operational Excellence project
  • Development of analyses, conclusions and recommendations
  • Finance business partnering/support to the SVP and management
  • Budgets and forecasts – as well as follow-up on these
  • Controlling and monthly reporting, incl. comments
  • Follow-up on and reporting of financial and operational KPIs
  • Further development of analyses, internal KPIs and reporting
  • Development and giving of presentations
  • Participation in cross-functional projects
  • Ad-hoc analytics 

Your profile
You hold a relevant master’s degree in economics such as cand.merc., cand.oecon., cand.polit. or the like, and you have a number of years of relevant work experience from a Business Controller, Finance Business Partner or Business Analyst role, preferably from a large company.

You have solid experience with handling large data sets, while developing conclusions according to the data. You have experience creating and presenting material to the management – and you understand how to convert complex data into a simple and easily understandable language.

You have a strong strategic and commercial understanding and a natural curiosity for market relations, as well as an ability to acquire knowledge about a new business. This makes you capable of connecting analyses and conclusions to the business’ needs.

You have experience acting as a sparring partner to the business, just as you are comfortable having a broad network of contacts within the organization.

As a person, you have strong analytical skills combined with a solid business understanding, which enables you to understand connections and complex problems. You are systematic and structured and focus on keeping deadlines and delivering quality.

Finally, you have a positive attitude by nature. You are a strong communicator and you have a desire for a fast-paced learning curve.
